Online Accreditation and
Reimbursement/Data Sharing
HOW THE LATEST ENHANCEMENT AFFECTS YOUR FACILITY

The IAC recently released a timely enhancement to its Online Accreditation application, related to the way in which your facility identification information is collected and stored, specifically National Provider Identifier (NPI) data and Medicare enrollment numbers for each participating facility.

A new link in Online Accreditation, entitled Reimbursement/Data Sharing, now allows users to enter identification data and customize opt-in choices related to data sharing. By way of regular data file transfers, the IAC shares accredited facilities' identification data with both private insurers and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as verification of accreditation status.

Is Your Facility Identification Data Current?

It is important that all facilities are aware of developments regarding the verification of your facility identification data, specific to NPI data and Medicare enrollment numbers:

NUCLEAR, PET, MR AND CT FACILITIES:
For those facilities that provide Advanced Diagnostic Imaging [inclusive of Nuclear Medicine, MR, CT and PET] as defined by CMS, which will be impacted by the upcoming January 1, 2012 accreditation mandate for nonhospital suppliers, it is critical that you access your facility's IAC Online Accreditation account as soon as possible to enter and/or verify and update the NPI data and/or Medicare enrollment numbers. CMS as well as other insurers will verify the accreditation status of a supplier only through data file transfers containing this information. Failure to enter accurate identification data will result in nonpayment of Medicare claims after 1/1/2012.

VASCULAR AND ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY FACILITIES:
For those facilities not impacted by the CMS mandate but potentially affected by other insurance mandates, you are strongly encouraged to update this information in your IAC Online Accreditation account at this time. Most insurers now request verification of accreditation status via data file transfers.

If your facility has received its temporary login information from the IAC but has not yet accessed Online Accreditation, it is highly recommended that you login to your account at this time.

How to Enter and Verify Your Information

Step-by-step instructions for entering your facility identification information are available on the IAC website at www.intersocietal.org/iac/npi_instructions.htm.

To help maintain your Online Accreditation account, remember to review and update the information contained within the Lab Profile section, such as e-mail addresses and other contact information. Facilities wishing to add a new site or change site information are first required to follow the IAC procedure for Change in Operations.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE, PET, MRI AND CT FACILITIES:
Will You Be Accredited by January 1, 2012?

All Nuclear Medicine, PET, MRI or CT facilities affected by the CMS deadline for MIPPA: Your outpatient imaging facility is required to be accredited by January 1, 2012 in order to qualify for reimbursement. If you have not yet submitted your completed application, the IAC urges you to do so immediately. Although submitting today will not allow the IAC sufficient time to process your application in order to meet the January 1 deadline, it does bring your facility one day closer to achieving your accreditation and ensuring reimbursements. The IAC pledges to continue working with your facility, beyond the deadline, to achieve this goal. We are here to help you succeed.
