REPRESENTATIVE CASE STUDY REQUIREMENTS
The ICAEL has posted the representative case study requirements
for each of the following areas:
ADULT TRANSTHORACIC
ADULT STRESS
ADULT TRANSESOPHAGEAL
PEDIATRIC TRANSTHORACIC
PEDIATRIC TRANSESOPHAGEAL
FETAL
MULTIPLE SITE APPLICATIONS
The purpose of reviewing representative cases is to evaluate the
interpretative and technical quality of the laboratory as a
whole. Because this aspect of the application carries a significant
weight in the final decision, extreme care should be used in
selecting only the laboratory's best work. All of the
details of the cardiac anatomy should be visualized adequately.
It is understood that technical limitations will occasionally
limit the sonographer's ability to adequately define cardiac
structures and visualize the myocardium when performing transthoracic
echocardiograms; however, the representative transthoracic cases
submitted for review should demonstrate all appropriate views
of the laboratory's protocol and be of above-average examination
quality. All cases must be complete examinations and not limited
or follow-up exams.
REMINDER: Submit entire application, including case studies, in duplicate.
