UPCOMING COURSES
It is our goal to provide the most
comprehensive listing possible as a service to the echocardiography community.
We are aware that these courses are a partial listing. Course
directors, please note: If your meeting contains substantial
echocardiography content and does not currently appear to
the left, please forward a copy of the preliminary program
to the ICAEL at sloper@intersocietal.org for an assessment of the applicable number of credit hours.

AUGUST 21 – 24, 2010 … Rochester, MN
MAYO ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY REVIEW COURSE FOR BOARDS AND RECERTIFICATION. To be held on the Mayo Clinic Campus in Rochester, Minnesota. This conference will provide an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular ultrasound with a practical and clinical disease orientated focus. Well-known experts in each field will give in-depth didactic lectures pertaining particularly to integration of echocardiographic data into clinical practice. Each lecture will be followed by multiple choice type question and answer sessions facilitated by an audience response system. The full practice of adult echocardiography will be reviewed, ranging from understanding how basic ultrasound physics influences clinical imaging, to the latest in quantitative assessment of ventricular and valvular function as well as the clinical application of newer techniques such as strain and strain rate imaging. Special clinical case based sessions will focus on specific diseases such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, and valvular heart disease. Breakout sessions will provide those attendees taking the ASE examination with a focused emphasis on the ASE examination format, physics, M-Mode and congenital heart disease questions. Those attendees wanting a clinical practice review of echocardiography can attend a breakout session focused on clinical echocardiographic challenges in valvular and coronary artery disease, TEE and new technologies. Full brochure and online registration available at www.mayo.edu/cme/cardiology.html. For more information, contact Mayo Clinic by phone at 800-323-2688 or 507-284-2509 or by e-mail at cme@mayo.edu.

SEPTEMBER 26 – 28, 2010 . . . Rochester, MN
ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY FOR THE SONOGRAPHER: FOCUS ON ADULT ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY. To be held on the Mayo Clinic Campus in Rochester, Minnesota. This conference is designed to provide the sonographer with a practical review of the current uses and limitations of two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler and color flow imaging in the assessment of adult myocardial and valvular disease. Recent advances in the field of echocardiography including the assessment of systolic and diastolic function, quantitative Doppler, and stress echocardiography will be presented. The lectures will be illustrated with digital image presentations of clinical cases in echocardiography and time has been allowed for registrants to ask questions as well as interact closely with the course faculty. To be held at the The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida. This program is designed for sonographers, students of sonography, cardiac
trainees, echocardiographers, and clinical cardiologists who interpret cardiovascular
ultrasound. This program is co-sponsored by the American Society
of
Echocardiography and Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
The American Society of Echocardiography designates this educational activity for a
maximum of 23 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit
commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ARDMS® and CCI recognize ASE’s certificates and have agreed to honor the credit
hours toward their registry requirements for sonographers.

OCTOBER 20 – 23, 2010…Napa, CA
CASES IN ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY: TEE, DOPPLER AND STRESS — INTERPRETATION AND CLINICAL DECISION MAKING FOR THE ADVANCED ECHOCARDIOGRAPHER. To be held at The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa, California. This conference is an advanced course designed to provide the clinician with an update on two-dimensional, Doppler, stress, and transesophageal echocardiography. It is not a how-to course, but instead will concentrate on the application of echocardiography in clinical decision making. The program consists of a large number of clinical cases which illustrate the problems cardiologists commonly encounter. Multiple choice questions addressing the clinical utility and limitations of echocardiography follow each case. In addition, faculty present “rapid fire” and “unknown” cases. Full brochure and on-line registration available at: www.mayo.edu/cme/cardiology.html. For more information, contact Mayo Clinic by phone at 800-323-2688 or 507-284-2509 or by e-mail at cme@mayo.edu.
