For
many years, the IAC accrediting bodies have published a listing
of accreditation consultants and software providers. While the
IAC did not endorse or specifically recommend any of the entities
listed, the information was compiled and published as a service
to potential applicant laboratories that inquired about assistance
outside of the support provided by IAC staff members.
However,
in recent times the emergence of numerous unqualified, inadequate,
and possibly fraudulent accreditation consultants and software
providers has brought about reason for concern. Under legal
advisement, the IAC Board of Directors recently made the decision
to abolish the IAC published listing of accreditation consultants
and software providers, effective January 2, 2008.
Beginning
January 2, 2008, the IAC office will not identify the names
or contact information of any accreditation consultants or software
providers.
