Introducing The New Website: ICAELonline

Over the past year, recipients of the ICAEL Newsletter have noticed dramatic improvements to our newsletter format and a regular, quarterly publication schedule. In March, the ICAEL proudly announced the launch of its completely redesigned website.

While the newly released ICAELonline now has a sleek new interface, in hues of plum and lavender that are soothing to the eye, www.icael.org has certainly received more than a good "facelift." The entire site was first completely reorganized and restructured. The ICAEL has grown by leaps and bounds since the website was first introduced, and with each passing year the ICAEL's target audience has also expanded to include laboratories with a wider range of needs. Consequently it became necessary for the website to evolve in order to meet those needs. The goal of the website is to be more than simply an area of general information for echocardiography labs already familiar with the accreditation process. Rather, our goal is to provide the echo community with an educational tool that can assist the new laboratory wishing to learn more about accreditation, as well as provide valuable resources for the accredited echocardiography laboratory.

Based upon months of feedback from laboratory personnel -- many of whom had difficulty finding what they were looking for, and felt resigned to using the Search button -- the ICAEL wanted to design a new site that was more easily navigable. Menu items have been reorganized and now feature dropdown navigation to show the different ares within each category, enabling users to easily find their way around the site. Featured on every page of the site is an additional menu along the right side containing more frequently accessed pages, such as the Order Form, The ICAEL Standards (including the current version available for download), CME Courses, and Frequently Asked Questions. And of course, both the Search capability and a full Site Map can be found here.

The ICAEL is only the second IAC organization to sport the new website; the new look of ICAELonline was developed from the design of the new ICAVL site at www.icavl.org. Launched in October 2003, ICAVLonline was built to serve as the prototype design for the websites of its sister organizations. A brand new site is also being developed for the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL). Look for a launch of the new www.icanl.org in the next month.
