A
mobile service is comprised of one or more units (technologist
and equipment) that provide nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology
or PET imaging services at one or more locations and meet the
following criteria, without exception:
- All examinations that are performed at the mobile locations
must be interpreted by physicians included in the application
for accreditation.
- All technologists performing any examinations at the mobile
locations must be included in the application for accreditation.
- The entire mobile service must share the same Medical Director
and Technical Director.
- All physicians and technologists must participate together
in quality assurance and education programs, including in-house
conferences.
- The entire mobile service must utilize identical protocols.
ADDING A MOBILE SITE OR MOBILE SERVICE
Laboratories wanting to add a mobile site and/or mobile service to an application that has already been granted accreditation must:
- Complete the Multiple site/Mobile service Supplement.
- Provide an updated equipment list using the appropriate section of the New/Addition Staff and Instrumentation Form. They are not required to submit the "Add On Site" Audit. If any physicians and/or technologists have been hired since accreditation was granted, it will be necessary to submit the appropriate forms and supporting documentation for these staff members as well.
If the added mobile site or mobile service is accepted into the laboratory's accreditation, accreditation for the added multiple site or mobile service will expire when the laboratory's original accreditation expires. |

THINGS TO KNOW IF YOU ARE A MOBILE SERVICE LABORATORY
If eligible, applicants with a mobile service may apply
with a single application and will be assessed
a $200 mobile application fee. Additional fees for
mobile services may be assessed based upon size, complexity
and geographic distribution.
If
accreditation is granted, it will be granted to the mobile
service collectively, and not to each location individually
(although the name and address of each location will be
entered into the ICANL database).
Applicants
with mobile services that are granted accreditation will
receive one certificate, listing the institution name as
listed in the accreditation agreement, for each testing
area.
All
ICANL correspondence will go through the institution listed
on the accreditation agreement. |
